29 April 2005 I've been spending time working on my languages recently. Check out the additions to the Newahon tongue. More to come on this and other languages. 2 January 2005 Happy New Year! Finally added a description for the Kudirat in the Factions section. The Kudirat portrait is also updated. 21 December 2004 Added a new Poser portrait of a Dark Master. 20 December 2004 Updated character art, most notibly Azmitarikor on the Diabolics page and Xapopia Jade-Dagger. Also added a page on Ramirocar Corvarillo, grandson of High King Frederico of Cartagon. 29 September 2004 I just purchased Rome: Total War and have been using it to simulate several battles that take place in the main story arc. Very nice game. Added character information and portrait for Drakkar. Updated the portraits of Kalthia Hammerwind and Glenwolf. Also in the Characters section is a new Family Tree that shows how several of the main characters are related through the Vlaparaiso bloodline. Portraits in the family tree link off to character pages for those individuals.
Updated the page on the Wilderlands, adding some information on the Frontier Wall, including its construction and size.
Back in July, I added historical timelines to the History section of the site, but failed to mention it on this page. Two timelines are available: AG 3000 to AG 5950, which is from the end of the Diabolic War and the Deluge to just prior to the Ahlimite invasions, and AG 5950 to the Present, which continues the history through the rise of Shannanism, the Dyshanti War, and the foundation of the Alliance up to the present day. Be aware that the timelines are very large graphics and may take a few minutes to download. What's nice is that these graphics are dynamic, like many of my page titles, so database changes and updates are immediately reflected.
18 July 2004 I've been experimenting with using Medieval Total War to simulate several pitched battles in Thyrenacia. Here is a description of the Battle of Aberen which effectively ended a recent civil war between the usurper High King Thaenor and the rightful heir to the throne, Asradel Souvens. 4 July 2004 Updated several poser portraits, including Tyrakos Ilias Diamantes, the Khallaiie, Nyani te Jidora, and Oyannax Twiceborn. Also fixed Sabline Lightbringer's eyes so she is no longer crosseyed. Added a section on the Cult of Ponponitlenatl, the principle religion of the Ghorovarnec Empire.
28 May 2004 The first novel, "A Crown of Vine and Ivy," is now at 575 pages. I hope to hit 600 over the weekend. 26 April 2004 Added a page on the Newahon language in the Languages section. Newahon also has its own dictionary. Menu fonts are back again, it looks like everything is now functional from the server move.
20 April 2004 We've been moved to a new server so we can get some extra disk space. Everything is up and running, except for the menu fonts. 19 April 2004 I've written new code to display online dictionaries and dictionary searches for the languages of Thyrenacia. So far, Elatoi, Gaelish, Ngolopalnec, and Ahlimite have dictionaries. Note, these dictionaries are works in progess. 16 April 2004 Kingdoms pages for the Alliance members are pretty much complete. Non Alliance members are still in the old format. I will need to continue editing the text to flesh out the new categories, but the information in the old pages is now completely in the new. I've added some information on the government of Cartagon, as well as put place holders for new pages on the great noble houses, orders, and korpratii. I'm considering new left nav selections for Places, forests, cities, ruins, et cetera, as well as for Ruling Houses and Orders. On a 1024 x 768 screen, I have space for only one extra left nav item, so the size of the selections may need to shrink again like it did when I added Creatures.
Also, I added a new picture in the Artwork section called "Oyannads and the Abomination". Ever since I added the Abomination to the Unnatural Creatures section, this image has been in my head.
13 April 2004 I am in the process of reconfiguring the Kingdoms pages. Some Alliance kingdoms will be broken for a bit while I update their pages, although links to the original pages will be available. Gallysto, Nevhon, and Quesh are already complete, although their text will be edited to better fit the new format. I have updated the Links page to include several other world building pages I've used as models for my own. I've also added a page in the Creatures section for Abominations. They're cute.
8 April 2004 Check out the page on the Gallystoi League. It is a prototype of my new kingdom page format. I'll be revising the look and feel over the next week or so and migrating the other kingdoms over. 7 April 2004 The Khallaiie page is now fully updated with the new uniforms. I have also updated the uniforms of two Khallaiie characters, Nyani te Jidora and Glenwolf. See a larger version of Nyani here. Nyani is one of my main characters and this is the closest I've gotten to her actual appearence in a rendering. For comparison, check out her first poser render and this sketch I did in Character Artist a few years back. 6 April 2004 I've updated the page on the Khallaiie. The page now has expanded info on their ranks and organization. I also added pictures of Khallaiie rank insignia and uniforms based on the updated style. I will be updating the Khallaiie portraits to the new uniform style over the next week. The menus are reorganized a bit. Creatures now has its own selection in the left nav, the various articles about the world are now only one menu deep rather than two, and History is higher in the left nav.
4 April 2004 Been working on an updated look for the Khallaiie. I'm altering the uniform I use in my Poser art to better match what's in my head. Take a peek... 2 April 2004 Made two additions to the Flora and Fauna page under World, although they still need descriptions. Also added pages, including descriptions, for the Azhtehai and the Ghost Fleet in the Legendary Creatures section under World. You can now click on the maps on the pages for Gallysto and Savaiie under Kingdoms to bring up a more detailed map of that kingdom. These maps include expanded roads and a host of new towns. The big political map on the Maps page also includes this expanded information.
Purchased the upgrade for Fractal Terrains Pro today. One of its new features is to generate rivers based on how water would flow down your world's topography. I'll be using this feature to place new rivers and make tributaries for some of the old ones. FT also suggested places where lakes might form, so I may add that as well. (Interestingly, it showed that a lake should exist in the middle of Quesh. Such a lake wouldn't make any sense given that Quesh is a desert, but a wide salt pan where a lake once stood could work...)
31 March 2004 Added a diagram of the Family Tree of Thyrenacian Languages in the Languages section. Also added the character Glenwolf. Added some more text on the Ascenderati and Qhalite languages. Added a description to the page on the Dyshanti Sovereignty in the Fallen Kingdoms section. Look for updated maps in the next few weeks. I have fleshed out the second tier cities for Savaiie and have begun doing so for Gallysto. Savaiie now has on the order of 60 cities and towns rather than the previous 17. Most of my kingdoms are bigger than France, yet they only have a handful of listed cities, so I am making efforts to correct this.
"A Crown of Vine and Ivy" is almost 500 pages. I have outlined the remaining chapters, of which there are about 16. I am currently estimating that the final novel will be well over 800 pages.
16 March 2004 Added pages for the Yllisi and the Free Duchy of Aberen. Pages under Kingdoms now use a new layered map of Thyrenacia that has a cleaner, more encyclopedia-like style. The full size version of this new map can be found at the top of the Maps page. "A Crown of Vine and Ivy" is almost 450 pages. I have been doing edits of what I have so far, filling in holes and adding elements that will be needed to complete the novel.
23 February 2004 Added a link to the Maps page off of the left nav. Added a page on The Rules of Warfare within the Alliance. Made some cosmetic changes to various parts of the site. Added more characters in the Characters section. 5 February 2004 Updated the page on the Ascendancy Calendar system. Included an antique parchment style image of a calendar for 1454 in Ascenderati. Several character portraits have been tweaked. The pages on the various kingdoms have been updated. I'm gearing up for updated antique style maps to replace the current ones on the kingdoms pages. 27 January 2004 The Characters section has been updated. It now includes entries for all the main characters and most of the national leaders. Each character is now rendered in Poser. 17 January 2004 Updated all coat of arms graphics and added a few new ones. The new graphics even include mottos. The pages on Gallysto and Savaiie now show the coats of arms for a few of their major noble and merchant houses. The first novel, "A Crown of Vine and Ivy", is now over four hundred pages.
23 November 2003 Added a section on the various Gods and Goddesses in the Faiths and Myths section. Poser portraits are included for most of the gods. A portrait of the prophetess Shannan is now on the page on Shannanism.
The first novel, "A Crown of Vine and Ivy", is now at three hundred pages.
10 November 2003 Added a section on the Titans in the Legendary Creatures section under World. This includes poser art of a Titan. 2 November 2003 New poser art replacements are slowly being added to the Peoples and Factions sections. 29 October 2003 Some new poser art is up in the Artwork section, including my first rendering of a Vizier. "A Crown of Vine and Ivy" is now at two-hundred sixty pages and going strong. 29 August 2003 "A Crown of Vine and Ivy", Book One of the Accounts of Thyrenacia novel series is currently under way. One-hundred eighty pages written so far. Many more to go. Added new poser renders to the Artwork section and scattered throughout the site.
3 June 2003 Added a page for the Aevahroth people in the Peoples section. Added a page for Gasuheheri lo Gomiye, the dominant Xianese philosophy, in the Beliefs|Major Faiths section. 9 May 2003 Added a page for the Elatoi people in the Peoples section. Corrected several clerical mistakes on the big map of Thyrenacia. Added some demo book covers for the novels in the Artwork section. 27 April 2003 Cross references that appeared at the bottom of most pages have been removed. You can now click on important terms directly in the text. Articles on Orthodox Shannanism and Lorsi Duvematys (the Cult of Oyannax) have been added, and the myth of the divine brothers Oyannax and Lhourd has been added in an article titled Sons of the All-Mother. 16 April 2003 The Accounts of Thyrenacia has undergone a major overhaul. The entire site is now database driven, meaning you can now see cross references on just about every page. The menus have been reorganized and automated, and all of the title graphics are being generated on the fly, so the site now has a consistant look and feel yet I no longer need to make a thousand title gifs. I've also added a few new sections. There are now Flora and Fauna and Substances and Reagents sections under World and new section under Kingdoms devoted entirely to the Ascenderat with pages on the Line of Ascendants, the Treaty of Amon Bhorag, Currency, and the Calendar.
There are also new graphics throughout the site. I have been playing with Poser and Bryce and have rendered alot of new art. Watch for new sections for the new art, story excerpts, and expanded character information.
19 December 2002 Added a page for the Khuradim people in the Peoples section. 10 December 2002 Added non Character Artist portraits for many of my characters to the Characters section. Added a self bio piece in the Overview. Added a page for the Tsavashi people and added Terran racial ancestries for the various peoples in the Peoples section. 20 October 2002 Added a new image to the Scenes section of Ascendant Illidor facing down a diabolic beast. 13 October 2002 Updated the views of Araes from space in the World section. 7 October 2002 Updated the full sized map, incorporating new symbols. Added example text for the Elatoi language in the Languages section. 3 September 2002 Added a map of the Siege of Quesh in the Maps section. 31 August 2002 Updated the full sized map on the Maps page, as well as the various country maps available from Maps and Kingdoms. Locations in Tsavash are now listed in Tsavashi. Rivers are no longer obscured by forests and jungles. All rivers now taper. Also added the Tsavashi and Xianese alphabets to the Languages section and a new map in the Maps section showing the relative size of Araes and Earth.
24 August 2002 Added two new sections, Scenes and Links. The Links section is self explanatory. The Scenes sections is for screen captures from the Thyrenacia module for Neverwinter Nights currently in development. 11 August 2002 Updated the Maps section. Added a global map of Araes from before the Deluge, a map of the Dyshanti War, and several maps of the Battle of Vidon Pass. Improved label visibility on the main clickable map. 31 July 2002 Updated the flags of the various kingdoms. Added information for Amon Bhorag, Ahlimis, Tsavash, and Dyshanti in the Kingdoms section.
28 July 2002 The History has been updated. It is now in sync with the rest of the site.
